Some basic knowledge about wetting agents
Release time:2024-12-19 Page-views:33

Wetting agents, as a type of surfactant, are widely used in various fields such as agriculture, industry, medicine, and daily life. It reduces the surface tension of the liquid and increases the contact angle between the liquid and the object, allowing the liquid to be better distributed on the surface of the object.

The main function of wetting agents is to improve the wettability of solid surfaces. Due to the low surface energy of most solids and the high surface tension of liquids, it is often difficult for liquids to spread on the surface of solids. The addition of wetting agents can significantly reduce the surface tension of liquids, thereby promoting the dispersion and adsorption of liquids on solid surfaces.

In the industrial field, wetting agents can improve product quality and production efficiency in industries such as metal surface treatment, printing ink, detergents, plastic processing, fiber dyeing, and paint. In the surface treatment of medical devices, wetting agents can improve the lubricity and permeability of the device surface, reducing discomfort during use. Wetting agents also play an important role in pesticides, which can improve the adhesion and permeability of pesticides on crop surfaces, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of pesticides.

There are various types of wetting agents, which can be classified into anionic, cationic, nonionic, special wetting agents, and multifunctional wetting agents based on their chemical structures and properties. So when choosing a wetting agent, we need to comprehensively consider various factors such as substrate type, coating type, performance requirements, compatibility, and environmental protection requirements to select the appropriate wetting agent.
