Ink defoamers, as important additives in the printing industry, have a wide variety of types and varying properties. Understanding the characteristics and performance of different types of defoamers is of great significance for selecting the appropriate defoamer.
1、 Silicone oil defoamer
Silicone oil defoamers are known for their excellent defoaming performance and stability. It can form a film on the surface of the ink to effectively inhibit the production of foam. However, the dispersibility of silicone oil defoamers in ink is poor, which may affect the fluidity of the ink. In addition, the relatively high price of silicone oil defoamers increases the cost of ink.
2、 Polyether defoamer
Polyether defoamers have good dispersibility and compatibility, and can quickly diffuse into ink to effectively eliminate foam. Meanwhile, polyether defoamers have a relatively small impact on the viscosity of ink and will not damage the fluidity of the ink. However, the defoaming performance of polyether defoamers is relatively weak and may require a large amount of addition to achieve the desired defoaming effect.
3、 Organic silicon polyether composite defoamer
Organic silicon polyether composite defoamer combines the advantages of silicone oil and polyether, with excellent defoaming performance, good dispersibility, and compatibility. It can form a stable defoaming system in the ink and effectively prevent the generation of foam. In addition, the price of organosilicon polyether composite defoamers is relatively moderate and has good cost-effectiveness.
4、 Other types of defoamers
In addition to the three main types of defoamers mentioned above, there are also other types of defoamers such as fatty acids, alcohols, phosphate esters, etc. These defoamers may have unique advantages in certain specific situations, but usually need to be selected based on the specific conditions of the ink.
